Voddie Baucham has written a very insightful piece on John McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin for the office of Vice President of the United States.  Here, he writes:

Conservatives are all aglow as John McCain pulled off an apparent coup d’état this week by naming Sarah Palin as his choice for Vice President.  Bob Unruh, writing for the conservative Christian web magazine, Worldnet Daily may have put it best when he opened his column:

Pro-family advocates and Republicans are saying presumptive GOP nominee for president Sen. John McCain may have checkmated Democrat Sen. Barack Obama with his choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential running mate.

Everyone from Liberty Counsel to FRC is raving about the political genius displayed by Mr. McCain.  It seems Christian conservatives have received the bone they were hoping McCain would throw their way in order to alleviate doubts about his conservative bona fides.

You can read the rest of the article here.  Personally, I heartily agree with Voddie’s article which goes on to state that the Palin choice was a “brilliant political move.”  Indeed it was with the main motivating factor being the gaining of the conservative vote.  For McCain knew that many conservatives were against him and vowed to say ‘no way’ in voting for him. Due to this, McCain, with his back against the wall, had to do something radical which would grab the hearts and minds of conservatives and swing the tide in his favor.

This he did with a crafty chess play he hoped to check mate Barak Obama with, for not only did he pick an individual whom conservatives would blindly rally behind (just as they did with George Bush), he chose a woman.  Here, he got two for the price of one. A candidate that appeals to both conservative Christians and liberal feminists at the same time.

The ploy worked; maybe even better than McCain’s advisers had expected.  For the tide changed on a dime after the Palin pick and became a tsunami after her acceptance speech.  Christians were nearly falling over themselves in fawning admiration for Palin as now they had their savior even as the Democrats have theirs.  Holdouts against McCain like Jim Dobson quickly changed course and now welcomed him with open arms.

This is a travesty for many reasons and is indicative of the complete lack of discernment in the  general evangelical/Christian community.  All they need is a person to confess that they are a Christian and regardless of anything that speaks to the contrary, they give said person their complete and undivided loyalty.  Nary lifting a finger to do even a modicum of due diligence to study the matter out per what the Scriptures or the Constitution teach.  Instead, they compromise with their beliefs all in the hopes to gain the brass ring of the White House which they believe holds the key to America’s moral decay.  If the record of the Bush administration is not enough to convince them of the contrary, I do not know what else will.

Yet sadly the majority of Christians have not learned any lessons as is evidenced by their support for Palin. and now also McCain.  One who many of them defend as a Christian where the facts speak another story.  And it is ironic how Sarah Palin would have been decried and lambasted if she had been Obama’s choice for candidate (ignoring obviously the political party difference).  For how would they have responded at a women with a pregnant unmarried teenager running on the Democratic ticket?  How would they have voiced their outrage at a mother with a Downs Syndrome baby neglecting her Christian duty to tend to this child?  And not only this child but her other children as well?  And how would they have responded to her passing the child-rearing reigns either to the state or her husband?  Not favorably I can well believe.  But since she is seen as the Republican pass to the White House, all such “strongly” held beliefs float away with the outgoing tide.

To reader of this article I hope you will do your own due diligence and study the matter out.  Read what Vodie has written in the article quoted above as well as others. Search the Scriptures and hold to them regardless of what the nation does or the evangelical church by in large.  The issue with our nation has nothing to do with who is in the White House.  The Apostle Paul could be in the White House as President and nothing would change if the church continued her resistance in submitting to the Word of God.  For the church needs to repent of her sins and to stop worrying about the sins of the nation.  She needs to repent of her moral decadance where there are few standards in church any more.  She needs to repent of her love of money, the things of the world and the preaching of the false prosperity gospel. She needs to repent of her immodesty and nakedness in clothing and attire. She need to repent of the evil she sets before her eyes via the television, videos and movies. She needs to repent of her fornication with Rome and preaching of the false ecumenical gospel.  She needs to repent of her creating worship and church not after the Word of God but rather after her own lusts and those of this lost generation.  She needs to repent of making the Word of God of none effect through her traditions and commandments of men. She needs to repent of her preaching a false gospel of ask Jesus into your heart and to preach the true gospel.

If the church repents, America will change and for the better.  If the church continues on her current stiff-necked path, things will continue to slide and America will be no more.  Repent church and clean your own house before you worry about the world’s.
